About Us
Our Building
The building was built in 1912 and initially used for a fruit and vegetables warehouse. It was the first cold storage building in Rapid City. There were two, 20 by 40 foot refrigeration rooms. It cooled the refrigeration rooms by filling a 3 foot diameter by 9 foot high cylinder with ice, which would melt and percolate into the ground. The walls of the refrigeration rooms were insulated with sawdust.
The building has been used as a warehouse for its entire life. It has warehoused everything from fruits and vegetables to candies, tobacco, surplus supplies and furniture.
And Now FLOWERS!!
